26.11.12: Rod has
been visiting Ron Angus's Studio One in Co. Durham (where he recorded the bonus tracks for One Track Mind 2008).
Also in attendance was Ian Thomson with his double bass. The project is largely acoustic and retrospective in
nature, with the results planned for release in Spring 2013. Watch out for further progress reports.
14.12.12: Rod Clements's
Rothbury Roots Midwinter Show took place on 13th December. The evening boasted a plethora of local talent including
Gill Birnie and
her young fiddle students, local choir Voicemale and some
of the students whose musical development Rod has been encouraging in recent years. Appearing alongside Rod were
Andy Craig,
Andy Heywood,
Rich Hurst,
Paul Billett,
Toby Walker,
Allan Husted and
Colin Davison,

Drake, Steve Goodman, Pokey LaFarge, William Clarke and John Martyn.

With Jimmie McGregor & Rab Noakes at Celtic Connections, 31st January 2012
20.02.12: Rod joined Rab Noakes and
other friends for a night in the Strathclyde Suite of Glasgow's Royal Concert Halls (part of the 3-week
Celtic Connections festival). A sell-out crowd saw Rab
perform a wide variety of his own material in different formats ranging from solo acoustic to full band (which
included Rod at various points). Several friends contributed guest spots, including
Meet Me On The Corner from Rod, who also helped Rab out on
an acoustic duo version of the Noakes-penned Lindisfarne classic Turn A
Deaf Ear. The band also included Fraser Speirs,
the Glaswegian moothie maestro who made such a notable contribution to Rod's
Stamping Ground album. A personal highlight for Rod was
getting to play mandolin on Freight Train with the great
Jimmie MacGregor, pioneer of skiffle and televised folk
music, who at 82 can still do the business and teach the youngsters a thing or two. An unforgettable night for all
who were there, whether on stage or in the audience.
